Shore Angling in Ireland
Great shore angling on an Irish coastline where it’s possible to have a beach
to yourself! The rock and shore marks around the 3,000 mile coastline offer
opportunities for terrific fishing for a whole range of species, including
outstanding sport with bass.
You choose where and when to stay and Leisure Angling will recommend a
suitable pub, guesthouse or holiday home with a value-for-money inclusive
deal. We also provide the latest fishing maps and information to enhance
your holiday.
This is exciting shore fishing. The Beara
Peninsula is the least explored of Ireland’s
south west great shorelines and only now is
the true angling potential starting to emerge.
Its beautiful scenic area provides quality
rock fishing with a handful of beaches
tucked away in quiet locations. Shot Head
is a favourite mark, offering the chance of
bottom fishing for huss, thornback ray and
conger, all of which run to double figures;
plus spinning or float fishing for pollack
and wrasse.
Anglers wanting to take on that special
challenge of catching a large mullet should
try Adrigole Bay and Coarrid Point where
there have been several fish over 7lb
reported.
The warmer currents of the Gulf Stream are
very much in evidence and not only provide
year round fishing, but produce a few
unusual visitors such as gilt head bream and
trigger fish. Bass can be taken throughout
the year and fish over 10lb were caught
during 2007. Download our Shore Angling Brochure (PDF)
