Longford & Westmeath
Bordering the Upper Shannon and Lough Ree in the west, this is a great area for bream,
rudd, roach, hybrids and pike. Scenic lakes, the Shannon and the Royal Canal provide a
wide choice of fishing to suit all styles – excellent summer and autumn sport.
Lough Ree near Athlone is a popular place for bagging up on bream when conditions
are right, but you must pre-bait. When the water is clear, sport is best early or late, but if
there is a facing wind and a bit of colour in the water, fish will feed all day.
